Your Credly subscription tracks usage over time to determine how you're billed. There are two types of subscription models — earner-based and badge-based — and understanding which one you're on affects how actions like issuing, replacing, revoking, and deleting badges will impact your usage.
First, how do I access my subscription details?
- Navigate to the “Account” section of the left-side navigation panel.
- Then click the Subscription tab at the top.
- Here you will see a breakdown of your subscription along with current usage numbers. You also have the option to export the data.
About Subscription Type
Unsure of your subscription type? Your subscription type is determined in your Credly contract.
Badge-Based Subscriptions
Your subscription usage is measured by the total number of active badges issued by your organization during the subscription period.
Key rules:
- Every active badge is counted individually. If one person holds 3 badges from your org, that's 3 toward your usage.
- Revoked and replaced badges do not count toward usage.
Example: If you issue 500 badges in Year 1 — and 50 are later revoked — your usage is 450.
Earner-Based Subscriptions
Your subscription usage is measured by the number of unique earners — individual people, identified by their email address — who receive a valid badge from your organization during the subscription period.
Key rules:
- Each person is counted once per subscription, no matter how many badges they receive from you.
- An earner is counted in the month they first receive a valid badge from your org during that subscription.
- If the same person receives additional badges later in the same subscription, they are not counted again.
- Revoked and replaced badges do not count toward usage.
Example: If you issue 500 badges in Year 1 to 300 unique people, your usage is 300 earners — not 500.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does my usage reset when my subscription renews?
A: Yes. Each subscription period is calculated independently. Earners or badges from a previous subscription do not carry over and count against your new subscription.
Q: If I revoke a badge and reissue it, am I charged again?
A: On an earner-based plan: only if the reissued badge is the earner's first valid badge in the new subscription period. On a badge-based plan: yes, each active badge counts separately.
Q:What timezone is used for monthly period calculations?
A: All periods are calculated in Central Time (CT).
Q: If something is wrong with my subscription, who do I contact?
A: Contact your Sales Representative or your Customer Success Manager. If you don't have a contact, always feel free to reach out to issuer support.
