We're excited to introduce a new feature on Credly that empowers your earners to bring all their achievements together in one place by adding badges from other platforms directly to their Credly profiles. This enhancement allows earners to showcase a complete, cohesive view of their skills and accomplishments, making it easier for others to see the full range of their expertise. As an issuer, this feature is a valuable addition to your credentialing strategy, helping you expand the reach and visibility of your program while fostering stronger connections with your earners as they proudly display their achievements across platforms.
Encouraging your earners to showcase their achievements is essential to amplifying the impact and visibility of your credentialing program. When your earners share their badges, they not only validate their skills but also serve as ambassadors for your brand, expanding its reach and influence across professional networks. This increased visibility not only attracts new participants but strengthens your reputation as a trusted issuer within the industry. By supporting earners in curating their digital portfolios, you build a stronger, more engaged community, fostering pride and loyalty that can lead to greater program participation and lasting relationships with your organization.
Below is a guide for enabling your earners to add badges from other platforms like Accredible to their Credly profiles. For ease and future sustainability, we recommend sharing the earner help guide for your earners for a guide on how to add obtained badges.
If an earner has obtained a badge from a platform like Accredible, they can add it to their Credly profile as long as it meets the outlined criteria
NOTE: We are rolling this out in phases, so if your earner does not see the option today, know that it will be forthcoming. Thanks!
Requirements for Adding a Badge:
-
Compliance with OpenBadge Standards:
The badge must meet OpenBadge 2.0 or 3.0 standards. Supported badges are often available from recognized platforms, while some providers, like Microsoft, Oracle, and Salesforce, may not be compatible. -
Correct Email Address:
The email associated with the external badge should match one of the addresses in the Credly account. If needed, earners can add an additional email under their account settings. -
Badge Format:
Badges should be available in one of the supported formats: .png, .svg, or .json. Different platforms may have unique download methods, so earners should ensure they’re using the correct option.
Steps to Add Your Badge:
-
Log into Your External Badge Account:
For example, if using Accredible, log in to retrieve the badge.
-
Verify Your Email:
Check that the email associated with the badge is also on your Credly profile. Add it to Credly settings if it differs from your primary email. -
Download the Badge:
Download the badge in the required format (.png, .svg, or .json).
-
Upload the Badge to Credly:
- Go to your Credly profile, scroll to the “Badge Portfolio” section, and select “+ Add badge from another provider.”
- Choose “Upload credential,” select the badge file from your computer, and click “Add Badge.”
-
Review Badge Information:
Confirm badge details during the upload preview, then finalize by clicking “Add Badge.” -
Badge Status:
Newly added badges will display in the “Other” section of the portfolio and may be marked “unverified” until the issuing organization is confirmed.
